The Master of Education is an interactive program that allows you to work with leading-edge technology and to be part of an international, dynamic, collaborative learning environment.

The Master of Education (MEd) is unique and at the leading edge in both its objectives and approaches to learning online. The program addresses the most recent issues involving digital technology, leadership, curriculum and adult education. Collaborative learning, co-construction of knowledge, peer tutoring and personalization are key approaches used in this program by professors with diverse research backgrounds in educational technology.

*Subject to Academic Council approval, Fall 2024 applicants to the Master of Education program may complete the program either in-person or online. Applications are now open for domestic and international students.

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS-

 

 

  • Hold a four-year honours undergraduate degree, or a three-year university degree and a Bachelor of Education degree, from a Canadian university or their equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum overall academic standing of a B (GPA: 3.0 on a 4.3 scale or 73 to 76 per cent), with a minimum B average in the last two full-time years (four semesters) of undergraduate work or equivalent.

 

Admissions for Bachelor of Education (BEd) graduates:

The Faculty of Education is offering guaranteed admission to our Online Master of Education course-only program for students who have graduated from our BEd program with a GPA of 3.7 (A-) or higher and who meet the entrance requirements for graduate studies at Ontario Tech. Spots may be limited and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis to candidates who meet the requirements.

HOW TO APPLY

 

Applications for admission to all graduate studies programs are submitted online. There are five steps you must go through to complete the application process. See application process and requirements for step-by-step instructions.

Course only option

Students in the course-only option are required to take 10 three-credit courses. Students take a total of 30 credits.

Q1. Does your master’s program qualify me to teach at the elementary or secondary school level in Ontario?

No. Our program does not qualify for certification with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), which is required to teach at the elementary and secondary levels in Ontario. At this time, our Bachelor of Education
